TARGET SHOOTING WITH 878 (HIGHWORTH) SQN ATC
               

As soon as a cadet has passed his or her 1st Class they are eligible to fire a .22 No. 8 rifle. The ATC uses indoor and outdoor 25 metre ranges for this rifle.

With the ATC, cadets are taught to fire a variety of rifles using live ammunition. As you progress and become more accurate, you will be trained to use a variety of rifles;

All weapons training is conducted by RAF qualified instructors, and cadets must pass a handling test every year (6 months for some rifles) before being allowed to fire. All firing practices are fully supervised, and conducted on designated ranges by trained personnel, to ensure safety.
